Allison's Top 10 Things That Make Her Terribly Happy.

(Shirt: Express, Tank: Old Navy, Shoes: Target, Belt: Thrifted, Skirt: Land's End)

My mom bought this skirt, and I thought she was kidding. I mean, really mom? But then longer length skirts came back into style, and I stopped wearing it as a dress.
Because I am obsessed with Rockstar Diaries, here is my list of 10 Things That Make Me Terribly Happy:
1. Tracy Chapman's Fast Car. It just makes me feel good.
2. Beautiful weather
3. Turning in an excellent paper in sociology
4. The person outside my dorm who was taking a nap in a hammock he put between two trees. You go, hammock kid!
5. The feeling when classes are done for the day.
6. The German language. I love the sound of it.
7. Learning where New Zealand is. Don't judge me.
8. Recognizing people I meet on the way to class. It's a new feeling, but I like it.
9. The little play I went to see in a hole-in-the wall acting studio yesterday night. It was adorable. also, fabulous.
10. Taking a deep breath and letting the stress slip away. I've gotten so much better at calming myself down and not worrying about things so much. This is much needed.
BONUS: Fall! I can't wait for boots and scarves and hot chocolate. Also, the retreat I'm going on in a few weeks, where I spend 5 days in a location without running water or electricity. I am so flipping excited!

Cinderella, Don't You Go to Sleep, It's Such a Bitter Source of Refuge

(Shirt: Target, Skirt: Self-made, Shoes: Converse via Plato's Closet, Necklace: Thrifted via Flea Market, Watch: Thrifted via flea market)

So this was my first photo shoot by myself on a college campus. Our campus is beautiful, but I was having a hard time finding a place that wasn't surrounded by people. I know that lots of bloggers take their own photos, and don't care who's looking, but I'm not quite there yet. So I took photos around 10ish, and there were a surprising number of people out and about, so I found a large, ugly cement wall. I'll get better at this, I promise. I'll slowly become less self-conscious. And these pictures were not taken with Kelsey's camera, so they are not as nice, but they're more Allison style.
This is why I love College:
-My 8 am was cancelled
- I got to leave a class 35 minutes early because here you're allowed to LEAVE when you finish tests! excellent.
- I go to class right next to my dorm, so I can rush home and put my sweats on to sit on my bed and finish my homework.
- I can blog at any hour of the day. Even during class. But I hate people who do that, so.. not really. but the possibility is still there!
-My parents came to visit and they bought me sushi and took me shopping. My favorite things.
-I can control the thermostat, and make it really cold at night so I can snuggle with my blankets.
life is good.

Worn Out

(Shirt: Express, actually a dress, Skirt: Self-made, Shoes: Toms, Necklace: Made by a Friend, Ring: Charlotte Russe)

I need Wendell. My new friends are already tired of taking my pictures. Yay awkward self portraits on my tiny college campus! Oh well. In the last few days, I've been feeling really tired and sad a lot of the time. I guess it's because this really doesn't feel like home to me. I still feel like I need to fit in. That doesn't mean that there haven't been a lot of fun things to do, like a midnight glow-in-the-dark capture the flag game last night, a a midnight mile-run, and today I only had one class, but it's been feeling a bit overwhelming. #whitegirlproblems.

Awesome's the Name, Don't Wear it Out

(Shirt: JCREW, Dress: TJ Maxx, Shoes: Converse, Sweater: Goodwill)

I know I took pictures under these archways yesterday, and I promise I was going to try and be original, but it was raining. And I love the rain, but Kelsey's camera doesn't. So here's to the mundane and the repetitive!

The bracelet with the eye is my new favorite piece of jewelry. I thought it was Hindu, but it's actually a Jewish symbol of protection. Who knew?

I had to cut the shoulder pads out of this sweater. Don't tell the 80s.

I promise I'm normal.
Scratch that. I'm proud not to be.

Because I'm Good At Spending Money.

In case you can't read, this won't help you: Vote For Me! This Friday!
In all actuality, anyone who would actually see this blog doesn't even go to my school.
But anywoo, the Governor is in charge of the small body that plans fun things to do for each area.
Like:
- Chalk Art Competition. With Cash Prizes. Of Course.
- Field Day, like the good old fashioned days, with a Moonbounce, and cotton candy.
- Giant Scavenger Hunt
Anyone have any good ideas?

Why Group Projects Should Have Been Mentioned in the UN's Convention Against Torture

Just a warning, this picture actually has nothing to do with what I am planning on ranting about. It is just a picture of me from my hiking trip in the Blue Ridge Mountains this summer. Also, my shirt is from Model UN. But mostly, I just like the picture.
The Group Project from Hell
To Set the Scene: My Global Experience Class is participating in a model UN simulation at my university in a few weeks, so we were divided into groups of three and each group was given a country. And each group had to write a 10 page paper that was due yesterday.
Like the good student that I invariably am, I spent quite a few hours finishing up the paper on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. At 11:30 on Sunday night, C1 starts his section of the paper. That should have been a warning sign right there. C2 has been working on her section outside of the Google Doc. I go to bed.
The next day, 30 minutes before class, I sit down at my computer to print it all out, and all the citations are mixed up, C2 did NOT know how to cite anything inside of a paper, and long story short, I end up crying on the floor of my friend's room 10 minutes after class has started because the stupid printer won't work. You know it's a good day when....
So then I got to show up to class 15 minutes late with a 9 page paper covered in tear stains. Nothing makes me cry like depending on others.
College is a lot like high school.

Talking About a Revolution Sounds Like a Whisper

(Shirt: Forever XXI, Skirt: Gifted, Thrifted, Shoes: White Mountain via TJ Maxx, Watch: Thrifted via Flea Market)

The transition between moving in and finally feeling settled was hard. And there were many things I hated about this school at first. Like the hundreds of preppy party girls. But one thing I never disliked was this campus. This campus is possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. It's a botanical garden!! How awesome is that! So basically, all my college tuition is going to the garden staff. I watched them rip up the entire front garden plot this morning. They replace the flowers every two weeks. A little too much, no?

But aren't these pictures amazing? I love them. They were taken by my fantastic hallmate, Kelsey, who also happens to have a beautiful Canon Rebel E05. So basically, I'm only pretending to be her friend for the pictures. Just kidding. But it is why I offered to walk with her to get her lunch at the Cafe after I had already eaten. But just let her pretend it's because I like her.

And, before you ask, I am not wearing tights. Those are my legs. And they are actually that white. Yay redheads!

This watch face is so big, and now whenever I wear my other watches, I have to squint. I am such an old person most of the time.

I was so proud of this graduated fishtail. Of course it fell out, even before I could get pictures, but I promise it looked good this morning!

You Got a Fast Car

Say hello to Rebecca. She is my fabulous roommate. These pictures were from Sportsfest. Where we lost EVERY SINGLE GAME. But we met Tom. and Pubic Hair on the Face Guy. They were a fun crowd.

(Shirt: Target, Skirt: TJ Maxx, Shoes: Converse via Plato's Closet, Necklace: LightYears, Glasses: Rayban's)

This is the kind of stuff that I've been wearing. You were unlucky and missed the picture of me wearing a floor length black dress. That was cute. Needless to say, I do NOT fit in with all these prepsters. But that's a good thing.

(Shirt: Express, Pants: Goodwill, Shoes: Toms, Belt: Goodwill)

I actually wore these with wedges, but they got to be too much. I have to walk SO FRIGGIN' much at this school. But it's good. Got to ward off the Freshmen Fifteen.
Also, you may have noticed the super hipster glasses. I whipped those out. I was just so tired of my old ones. And they were too small, and I couldn't see anything.
Fun fact: I wear my glasses when I feel like making an effort. My contacts are my lazy day eye care. Weird? Very.
These pants are definitely full length petite grandmother pants. I was so proud of myself for figuring out how to wear them.
PS: My school is beautiful. And life is good. And Tracey Chapman may or may not be on repeat...

Nuer Noch Kurz die Welt Retten

These are our fish. Joey and Gavin. Gavin is mine. Such a good fish.

(Skirt: Goodwill, Shirt: Plato's Closet, Belt: Goodwill)

So, turns out, I really like putting my life into pictures and posting them on the internet. So I couldn't say goodbye. And turns out, in college, you have a lot more free time. Because you're only in class a few hours a day. Anyway, this is my room. I like it a lot. :)
