DIGS.

(Dress: Target, Necklace: Lightyears, Shoes: Thrifted via Goodwill)

Blog World, this is my giant teddy bear, Paddington. Paddington, Blog World. The fish on the second shelf's name is Gavin. He's a cutie as well.

I'm finally settling into school. It's a good feeling. I would not trade with the freshmen for anything in the world. I know so many more people around campus and it's great to be able to say hello to everyone I know. I feel like a big, self-conscious weight has been lifted off my chest. Seeing the freshmen being so shy and scared made me realize that there is no reason why I should be.  I'm also involved in way too many things. Here is a sampler of some of the things I am doing:
-In a gardening class. I am in charge of feeding the chickens, managing the herb garden and taking care of a small garden plot. Bok Choy what whattt
-I'm in a photography class. The quick oats box in the corner of the first photo? That's my pinhole camera. I am in love with developing pictures.
-Residence Life. I'm an RA. I mentioned that. durr
-Working in the Office of Sustainibility.
Basically, I do too much. But I love it all! Don't make me stop, but let me complain about it! haha.
(Also: did you notice the ethernet cable in some of the pictures? My computer is STUPID and won't connect to some websites without that dumb gray cable. I feel like I'm living in the 90s.)

Richer Than Kings

(Shirt: Gentlemen of the Road, Mumford Concert Shirt, Skirt: Loft)
"We're richer than kings. We live better than William I, who conquered England a millennium ago but, for all his wealth and power, didn't have a flush toilet. An army of ruthless Normans and the blessing of Pope Alexander II? Yes, he had those things. Antibiotics and a riding mower? No. Although William was stupefyingly wealthy by the standards of his time and place, he seems starkly impoverished by the standards of outs. No blow-dryer, no iPad, no seedless grapes. How did he get by?"
(Owen, David. The Conundrum. New York: Penguin Group, 2011. Print.)
This quote totally blew me away. The standards we live with and expect are actually crazy by history's standards. And America's standards are much higher than most other countries in the world. It really makes you think about what you actually need, doesn't it?
Frightening.

Confidence, Dry and Secure

(Shirt: Grandmommed, Skirt: Target, Shoes: Minnetonka, Necklace: Thrifted via Flea Market)

This is the first day I haven't been running around like a chicken with its head cut off.  It's also the first day I really got some time to myself. I got to eat whatever I wanted for breakfast. It was a miracle. I'm going to start training for a long run again. I'm going to go for the big one, the marathon. The whole process is going to be spread out over many months because I'm traveling in January, but I definitely need to get back in shape. I've been feeling gross lately and I need to start watching what I'm eating and exercising. Been ignoring that for much too long.
The freshmen all moved in this weekend. As an RA, they all look up to me a lot. I know this might not last very long, soon they'll figure out what's going on and be WAYY cooler than me, but  for now, I'm the awesome one. And it feels great. Having the freshmen here gives me a huge boost of confidence. I already feel like more of a grown-up. YAYYY :))

Lean on Me

(Shirt: Forever 21, Pants: Gap, Belt: Thrifted via Revolver, Shoes: MIA via PacSun)

lime arm party. holla.

dance shoes//pirate boots//wedges that now hurt my feet, am I aging? ahh!!!

Hank. Hank Jones. Thank you very much.

I <3 Sarah.

This week was a bit of a hassle. Last night I only got three hours of sleep. This really doesn't explain why I'm up at 1:35, clearly not doing anything important, but that's besides the point. RA training was at times super boring and extremely stressful, but I learned a lot about myself. I think this only bodes well for the rest of the year. I hope I'll be able to take the bad things in stride and grow even more. With such a good looking staff, I can't possibly lose, right? :))

Rushing Out

(Shirt: Walmart?, Shorts: Banana Republic via Goodwill DIY, Boots: Rack Room Shoes: Necklace: Lightyears)

I've got a little bit of mom hair in this last one... yuck. It was my first day of RA training today!! The last picture is from the business casual dinner at the VP's house (!!!). It was excellent. My room is ALSO fabulous. And huge. And MINE! All MINE! :)) I'll post pictures after I'm done decorating. If you can't tell from the blank wall in the first photo, it's a work in progress. I'm off to grab ice cream with my wonderful, wonderful staff. Hope your days were excellent!

Hopeless Wanderer

(Shirt: Express, Skirt: Thrifted via Father and Son, Shoes: Urban Outfitters, Necklace: Lightyears)

Today, I was a productive grown-up. I renewed my passport (for India!! eee!!!), sent my hair to locks of love, ordered checks and bought new running shoes for the marathon endeavor. I forgot to take a picture of the bag I was carrying, but you'll see it soon. It's SO CUTE! And it was so cheap. Those are the best kind of purchases. Here's to being a grown-up!

I Will Wait For You

(Shirt: Walmart?, Skirt: Thrifted via Goodwill, Necklace: Lightyears, Shoes: Minnetonka via Rack Room Shoes, Glasses: Ray Bans)

This is the first time I've used my new camera with a tripod. And I used a new tripod instead of Wendell. Not gonna lie, the legs on the new tripod are AWFULLY spindly, but I can turn it sideways and take portrait shots, which are my favorites...  I hope it doesn't tip and smash my lens. That would suck. Today my sister and I drove all around town buying things we need for school. I may or may not have snuck in some purses that I found at Marschalls for $27. Bargain steal! I move back in on Wednesday! Where did summer go?!

FREAKING MUMFORD AND SONS

(Shirt: Target, Shorts: Banana Republic via Goodwill DIY, Shoes: Toms, Purse: Old Navy, Bandada: Walmart)

Kate and I went to Bristol, TN to see Mumford and Sons play LIVE! EEEEEE!! We've been waiting for this opportunity for the better part of a year. It was one of the best nights ever. More concert pictures to come, I know you want to see them. Especially because Marcus Mumford is a hottie.

Bristol is split along the state line, so one half is Virginia, the other half is Tennessee. It was an adorable little town and we had a great time exploring it. If you ever go there, Manna Bagel Co has the best bagels in the world. If you follow me on Instagram (I am now an iPhone owner), @superglamfab, you can see a picture of Kate's bagel burger. I had a three cheese bagel sandwich. It was the greatest, and most worth-it meal I've had in a long time.

New addition to Allison's animal jewelry menagerie.

When in hipsterville, do as the hipster do. typical blogger pose. got it on lock.

I love Kate. And Mumford and Sons.

Terabithia

(Shirt: H&M, Shorts: American Eagle, Sunglasses: Tuesday Morning)

Also from earlier this summer, a gorgeous river near our houses. What a great day. We discovered what a water moccasin looks like. Then we learned how to jog out of the water very quickly. Both very important life lessons.
