You Are My Electric Girl

(Shirt: Target, Jeans: Visgoss Jeans via Plato's Closet, Shoes: Lacoste via Plato's Closet, Belt: Target, Necklace: American Eagle, Ring: Vintage, gifted)

Just so you know, this is pretty much me, all the time. I go through lots of "film" taking pictures that are unusable. This is one of my better tries. This is honestly what pops in my head when someone says "pose". What would Tyra say about this?

Getting down to this spot on the hill was very difficult, hence the twisted legs. I really really really wanted to get down to the tracks here and take pictures next to the tankers, but apparently you're not supposed too. There was a lot of inhibitive greenery. and rocks. lots of rocks. Other than the fact that this picture shows my failure to reach my desired destination and a strange placement of limbs, I really like it. I love the tankers in the back, and the tall grass was really pretty.

ANNNDD a close up of my sweater which is new. I officially love it. It's comfortable and will work for fall and winter because of the 3/4 sleeves. It's a little cropped, so when I was stretching out before Chorus, my entire stomach was exposed. At least I've been working out.

The necklace is a working, opening and closing pocket watch, and one of the most amazing things I own. I actually use it to tell time. The ring was also a gift from my friend Olivia a few years ago. What's not to love about Hello Kitty? My nail polish is also in it's usual state of disrepair. How do people have the time to keep their nails looking decent without a weekly appointment at the nail salon? I do too many things with my hands during the day to keep them looking nice.

You can't see it from this angle, but there are alligators on the sides, and stripes. Haha I should have gotten a better picture. Anyway, I got these at Plato's Closet for $8 with the tags still on! What are the odds?! A bargain hunter's dream! BEST DAY EVER. Except perhaps the day I bought my Nike Bag. But a close second.

The embroidery on the back of the jeans is awesome. All right. I would like to take this time to go on a little rant about expensive jeans. Why do people buy them full price? Like cars that lose thousands as soon as they are driven off the lot, what is the point? I buy all my jeans used, and most of them were relatively expensive brands, but so worth it at $20 a pop. And worn-in too boot. Phew. Done with that. These jeans are comfortable, and only my third pair of skinny jeans. Although... skinny jeans and I have gotten really close and I'm considering a long term relationship. Serious! I know. I'll send you all an invitation to our wedding. :)

And Sometimes, It Rains

(Dress: Unknown, Scarf: Street Fair in Paris, Belt: Target, Ring: Charlotte Russe, Shoes: Converse)

It was so wet today, and I loved every minute of it. I love the rain. Plus, our cross country meet was canceled, so I can actually get things done! Either that, or watch a Lie to Me episode. That sounds like a good idea right about now. I don't know what it is, but the rain makes me happy. Kinda the opposite of what it should be, because I wilt in direct sunlight.
Also, this morning I decided that no matter what, I was not going to wear my black sandals, so even though they would have looked great with this outfit, I put my foot down. Then when I got to school I realized that I could have worn my Toms. Whatever. At that point, I was just glad that my feet were covered and not being completely immersed in the puddles on the sidewalk.

Today I wore my shortest cowl neck dress (I have three, eep!) because I thought it was going to be warm. Turns out the constant rain really lowers the temperature. I was comfortable inside though, and that's where I spend most of my day, so that's alright. I tried the scarf with a belt around it today! And... I think i need a longer/bigger scarf. But it worked out alright. Today was also a good day, because apparently my friends and I are all considered to be the well-dressed ones at my school, so that was a huge compliment. :)

In class today, a girl sitting next to me said "oh! your scarf is tucked into your belt!" I told her that I did indeed want it to be that way. She made some some slightly embarrassed/disapproving noises and then left me alone. THAT was slightly annoying. Oh well.
Have a great Wednesday!

Mix it Up

(Shirt: Banana Republic via Plato's Closet, Skirt: Target, Belt: Kohls, Shoes: Charlotte Russe, Ring: Vintage Spoon Ring via Etsy)

The first picture attempted to hide my feet because... I'm in a shoe slump! I've worn these black shoes every single day for.. a really long time! The second picture revealed them a bit too much, so I'm forced to bring it up. I think that if anyone looking at this blog wasn't ready for fall, after seeing these shoes every single day for a very, very long time, even if they were afraid of falling leaves and disliked apple cider, they would be yelling "BRING IT ON! Get some boots on this girl!"

And in this last picture, nothing says "class" like a MUG root bear can. I thinking about having my room decorated with them.
All in all, I loved this outfit today, although the belt kept riding up in the back and driving me crazy.  The thing is, I really needed it. The belt provided a barrier between the lace and the funky polka dots. This skirt was so cheap I got super excited. I love Target clearance! The day I bought it I noticed that Tania from What Would A Nerd Wear was wearing the gray version of this skirt. That made my day.

The weather is cooling down! Hello jeans! Hello blankets! Hello scarves and boots and fires in the fireplace! Haha, I'm obsessed.

Aufwiedersehen

(Shirt: Banana Republic, Skirt: Old Navy via Goodwill, Shoes: Charlotte Russe, Ring: Vintage Spoon Ring via Etsy)

I wore this outfit on the drive home from the wedding yesterday. I didn't realize that the weather was suddenly going to get cooler so I was chilly for a while. Other than that, it was really comfortable. I normally wear this shirt with jeans or other pants because it flares out a little at the bottom, but I like how it looks tucked into a skirt. Too bad skirt weather is almost over. I know that I just spent most of the time on my blog talking about how much I wanted fall to come, but there is something so awesome and easy about skirts and sandals that I'm going to miss. Now the layering challenge of fall!

Goodbye Summer!

Your Presence is Requested

(Dress: Banana Republic, Shoes: Charlotte Russe, Ring: Vintage Spoon Ring via Etsy, Necklace: Church Craft Fair)

This dress is so great. It's comfortable and nice enough to wear to Church, or a wedding- which is where I was this weekend. It was outside along the Blue Ridge Parkway and the reception was a giant picnic potluck with blankets and water gun fights and 30 different types of pie. My entire extended family from my dad's side was there so I got to see all my baby cousins.

Possibly my favorite part of the entire wedding was that for the reception they went out and bought a ton of old mugs and plates from a thrift store and I got to keep a mug covered in cats and books, two of my favorite things. It's got a little chip, but I think it gives it a personality.

Here are some fun shots from the wedding:
My brother and sister.

My cousin Savannah going down the aisle picking up all the flowers her sister threw on the ground. :)

Pie induced siesta.

Water gun fights.

Baby Rachel.

Beautiful View.

Let the Outfit Speak for Itself

(Shirt: Macy's, Skirt: Banana Republic Outlet, Shoes: Kelly and Katie via DSW)

I love finding a bargain, and this shirt was less than 5 dollars on the Macy's sale rack! I was really excited. I love sales. Seriously. Ask me about how much I got my Nike bag for one time. I saved the tag I was so jazzed.

This skirt was also relatively cheap. I love outlet stores.

I had these shoes in gray, and I loved them so much (and over wore them to the point of destruction) that I got them in purple! They are comfortable because everything is cloth, so nothing rubs against your foot. The very small sole can make standing for long periods of time unpleasant though, so I normally save them for short outings, like church or the movies.
Have a great Saturday!

I'll Provide the Answer

(Shirt: Borrowed from Kayla, Skirt: Love Rocks via Goodwill, Belt: Vintage, Necklace: Church Craft Festival, Shoes: Rainbows)

Today was another RIDICULOUSLY hot day. This outfit fit it perfectly. Everything was light and cotton. The skirt I'm wearing is actually folded over because the top part does not look good as a skirt. I think it was actually a skirt for an 8 year old or something. My fashion sense is so sophisticated. You have no idea. The good thing about the top part is that I can also wear it as a shirt... more outfit potential! but quick, before it gets too cold!

The summer sun is not good for people with pale skin. I have so many new freckles!

TRUE LIFE.
I love her.

Short and Sweet

(Dress: Target, Shoes: Payless, Rings: Charlotte Russe, Kohls and Etsy, Bracelet: Gift from Hawaii)

The dress is short, and so is this post! I'm running out the door as we speak. Tomorrow's Friday! I live for the weekends. :)

Rose Colored Glasses

(Skirt: Old Navy, Shirt: Borrowed from Kayla, Cami: Kohls, Shoes: Steve Madden via DSW, Ring: Spoon Ring via etsy)

This skirt is another go-to outfit piece for me. It's black and makes everything look fancier. I love this shirt, and a thinking about keeping it a few extra days so I can try to wear it backwards? I think that'd be awesome.

The back is beautiful. I love the flowers. Only problem, they're itchy. haha. Beauty is pain.

These are my sister's. I love the purple and zebra print. :)

Happy Hump Day!

And Again

(Dress: H&M Borrowed From Kayla, Belt: Vintage, Shoes: Miss Trish for Target, Bracelets: Assorted, Ring: Spoon Ring from Kate!)

This belt is the most fantastic thing I own. It almost looks like Chanel, and not something my mom bought to go with... I don't know. I don't think you can wear it with anything but solid colors. It's definitely a statement piece.

This dress is amazing. I love the things Kayla has given me. For this outfit I tried to style it differently than other people would, because there are a few other people who own this dress, and I think I succeeded. If anyone has this belt I would be amazed.

Because the buttons of the dress and the belt were contrasting silver and gold I decided to wear silver and gold jewelry. I used to think this was a big no-no, but I'm starting to like it. You can't see it, but the gold bracelet has a huge gold heart attached to the chain. I have no idea where it came from. I'm thinking my mom? The silver bangle shuts and has a clasp, but it's old and continuously pops open. It drives me crazy! That one's my mom's too. The silver elephants are a gift from my grandparents from when they visited India. The elephants look like they have personalities. :) ALSO my spoon ring is a gift from my friend Kate and I love it! Thanks Kate!

Mallory makes me laugh. :)

The picture crew. :) I love these girls.
